Come celebrate the life of Seattle born Actress Frances Farmer in a two day event presented by West Seattle's Historic Admiral Theater.
Come dressed to impress (30's style) for our elegant first night, featuring a cocktail reception and a 72nd Anniversary showing of the award winning classic "Come and Get It". The evening also includes a presentation of "The Bad Girl of West Seattle" by local historian Peder Nelson.
Saturday features the family friendly matinee "Rhythm on the Range" co-starring Bing Crosby, culminating that evening with Jessica Langes academy award-nominated performance in the critically acclaimed movie, Frances.

"The Bad Girl of West Seattle"
Presentation by
Peder Andreas Nelson
Local historian, event coordinator and member of The CLP, Peder Nelson will give an indepth presentation on the life and times of Frances Farmer. The presentation will discuss the social/political climate in Seattle durring the 30's and 40's in which Frances was involved, her sudden rise to fame, and the arguments surrounding the tragic years to follow.
He will be joined by special guest David M. Johnson, Ed.D., CEO of Navos Mental Health Solutions Center who will discuss the myths around mental illness and will speak to today's innovative approaches to treatment and emphasis on recovery and resiliency. Dr. Johnson has devoted the past thirty two years to community mental health serving as an administrator, teacher and therapist.

Welcome To The Historic Admiral Theater
There is a lot of rich history about the theater. The Admiral opened in 1919 as the Portola Theater, showing silent movies in the single room that is now the lobby. In 1942, the present theater was added and re-designed by the same architect who created the ornate Hollywood Pantages in Los Angeles. The theater is built around a nautical theme and has etched glass (with Seahorses) hanging in the lobby. In the 1940's the exterior of the theater sported a real ship's mast complete with Crow's Nest! There is a huge mural behind the snack bar depicting sailing vessels.
The theater has recently installed a sound & lighting system and an extended stage. We are now featuring music, comedy, burlesque, magic and theatrical film festivals.
We are now offering beer & wine in our upstairs Crow’s Nest lounge.
It is our goal to create a successful and enriching, multi-cultural theater experience while still maintaining the integrity of a movie house.
